                                          MGA’s Cochran Campus is
                                          flourishing with enhanced
                                          student life and a growing
                                          number of academic programs

                                         to Thrive

At first, it was the picturesque campus of a
north Georgia college that most caught
Amani Baker’s attention as she considered
                                          her post-high-school education choices.
But the liberal arts school didn’t offer the air
traffic management major Baker eventually settled
on, so she scheduled a visit to ֱ Georgia
State University’s Cochran Campus, where she
would take her core classes before moving on to
the School of Aviation on the Eastman Campus.
“The Cochran Campus actually reminded me
a little” of the other college, said Baker, a 19-year-
old freshman from Covington. “It’s pretty, and it’s
small enough that you can get to know people. It
was a good fit, so here I am.”
Of ֱ Georgia State’s five campuses,
the Cochran Campus offers the most traditional
collegiate atmosphere with its stately magnolia
and oak trees, historic buildings, central quad,
and small-town setting. The campus dates to
1884 and went through several name changes
before becoming ֱ Georgia College in 1929.
ֱ Georgia College was primarily a two-
year school offering associate’s degrees until the
University System of Georgia consolidated it with
                                          Macon State College in 2013.
